A systematic method for preparation

Identifying the aims and therefore ALL the target readers. Tailoring to meet this audience

Collecting the information: Research: what information do you need; where will you get it from? How will you organise it?

Structuring a report – giving the readers a “route map”

Using plain English: Style: matching your language to your reader, using everyday English, avoiding politically correctness pitfalls

The grammar rules and vocabulary, spelling, abbreviations, and punctuation

Ensuring your work is read: Presentation and layout.

When to use illustrations, charts and graphs

Opening and closing – and ASKING FOR ACTION

Action planning: The lessons of the course and how they may be applied practically. How can delegates adapt, and what will they do differently? What delegates will stop, continue and start to do.
